Best trail riding tires for Prairie 700?

Hello folks, ... I am going to be picking up a new Team Green Prairie 700 tomorrow, and I would like to pull the stock tires off of it before it is even ridden, in order to get a better resale value on the stock tires. The local tire place has a set of 26" Holeshot ATRs that I could mount on the stock wheels tomorrow. Before I do that though, I thought I should ask and see if there is a general consensus about a better tire for spirited trail riding in dry conditions (I live in a desert and haven't seen mud in about six years now).

Thanks,

TWINS! It doesn't get any better than that, LOL.

Actually, I started using this Avatar about six months ago on this forum, Except that I have not posted on Kawieriders at all for about three months, and have never posted on the Prairie forum before, so you probably have not seen it associated with my username. I used to post on the V-Force forum, but sold my V-Force back in June. If you want to claim the avatar that is fine with me, I'll just change to another one. Say so, if you want me to change it.

Nah, just kidding. I've seen people using it on other forums as well. I don't own it, anyone can use it.

Badlands XTR Radials, I love mine for trail riding. They cost less than the holeshots, and might actualy be a little better in the mud. I have allso ued them all summer for dirt drags, and doing quite well I might add!

589s are good, but they are a little rough on hardpacked trails. The radials are so smooth. If you know that you are going to be in some sticky mud, drop the air pressure down to about 3lbs, and you will be impressed at how well they will bite in the mud.

I have 26" Holeshot ATRs on my BF750, you will love them, great trail tire at any speed, also mounted and on the 4-wheeler they still measure about 25 1/4 - 25 1/2 inches at 5 psi which is nice. I've had both the Badlands XTRs and the Bighorn Radials, there is a new tire put out by Carlise, ACT Radial, All Conditions Tire, just released in a 25" size, it has been available to the public in a 26" tire but under the ITP brand as a Ducks Unlimited Wetlands tire. If you are going to ride at a quick pace, you will love the ATRs

Brute runs well with this jetting, I still have the #38 pilots though, the #42s I got from www.sudco.com were for the P700/STP700 carbs, the pilots on the BF are much different. I have no problems running up a couple of sizes in jetting, no lag on the throttle at any speed (I do need to change to the NKFL needle on the front carb though). I have hit 71 on flat ground, could see another MPH or two if I had bought the Dyna CDI instead of the DG3-BF, although I did add the offset key to advance the timing an additional 6 degrees, I still get the retarded ignition at 5500 rpm and greater. With a clutch mod like KOD and others have done on their 650's, I think I could get the BF up into the higher 70s'

bighorns
BH radials
These are my first aftermarket tires, so i'm no expert, but...that said
After two serious trail runs they did wonders. I had them up to 45-50 several times and they ride like..well...radials.
Very smooth, works great in everything but deeeeep mud, and then the problem becomes (for me) getting bottomed out instead of running out of traction.
Made a run this morning on leaves logs and rocks after a day long rain.
Fantastic.

I like my 25' big horns but they are heavy. If you ride in rocky terrain I would buy them because they are on tough tire and the sure do look pirty!!

After our club having an sled pull this weekend and the ATRs winning on a p700 over the bighorns on a BF750 I would say the ATRs are a good chooice unless you'll be doing any of mudding. In the pull the Big Horns spun and never seemed to really hook up as well the ATRs did and that surprised me. I have seen those ATRs hook up very well in all sorts of conditions. I'm going to get a set to compliment my Mud Lites.

I have the ATR's on my 700, and love them. They hook up super good, in most conditions. Not the best in mud, but I usually try to avoid the deep stuff anyways. I've had several trips to WV on the ATR's (both on my 700 and the other set that I had on my Rubicon) and never had a flat. You'll be happy with them. The Bighorns are nice, but seem a bit aggressive and hard for comfortable trail riding, but I haven't ridden on them buy once on a Rincon. good luck!

I have run 2 sets of Holeshot ATRs. A great versatile tire. PERFECT for my terrain(Hat/McCoy Trails/Appalachian Mtns.). I stay out of the mud. IMO-- the best fast trail riding tire you can put on a big Prairie.
